On Wednesday 13th at Fat Sam’s in Dundee, Twin Atlantic get into gear for the launch of their album …
On the same night, Squeeze frontman Glenn Tilbrook has a solo show at the Harbour Arts Centre in Irvine. He also plays – Craigmore Bowling Club on the Isle of Bute on Friday 15th.

We’re going to confuse everyone by straying from the normal format this week – as in Edinburgh there’s a flyurry of live shows but also the festival show runs t hat you can catch most nights by the likes of Pumajaw, Otway, Paul Vickers, and you can read about those in the Jockrock Edinburgh festival Guide.

Regular i.e. one-off gigs include Neutral Milk Hotel at the Corn Exchange on Thurs 14th, and on eth same night, The Cairn Quartet are at the Electric Circus, and Rachel Sermanni is at the Queen’s Hall. (Why on earth they couldn’t try and spread all these good show over the space iof a year instead of three weeks is beyond me and, I suspect, everyone that lives in the city).

Anyway, onto Friday, and you have Agnostic Front at Bannermans or Belle and Sebastian at the Corn Exchange (tricky choice I nkow).

Or if you’re in Fife, Foreignfox play PJ Molloys in Dunfermline.

In Glasgow, on Friday, The Squander Pilots Vocalist Now Known As Drums of Death is at Stereo
Alternatively, get your post-roc trousers on for the third coming of Slint, at the Arches

There’s a free gig on Saturday, August 16 – starting at 4pm at Glasgow’s Record Factory, there’s Hector Bizerk, Plum, Tijuana Bibles and Model Aeroplanes (all, perhaps significantly, fresh from Wickerman).

Squeeze are at Kelvingrove Bandstand on Saturday, handy since Glenn Tilbrook is around anyway.

Sunday. apart from the obvious business in Embra, is quiet, Though you can catch Shambles Miller at the 13th Note
