With live music in Scotland once again concentrated towards the weekend, feel free to take the first couple of night off, before taking in Richard Dawson, accompanied by Finnish veterans Circle, at Edinburgh’s Summerhall,
on Wednesday 13th July.

Alternatively, Elephant 6 / Neutral Milk Hotel member Julian Koster, in his guise as The Music Tapes, plays Mono, or at The Hug and Pint, it’s Beerjacket.

On Thursday 14th, in Edinburgh at The Voodoo Rooms it’s Julian Koster / The Music Tapes, and Dundee gets James Bay, for a set at Fat Sam’s.
Boston (Massachusets, that is) trio Slothrust are at Stereo in Glasgow. And We Are Not Devo play the first of three nights at The Hug and Pint.

They’re one of many gigging acts acts who are also at Doune the Rabbit Hole this weekend – the event takes place over four days at Cardross, near the Lake of Menteith (ok, near-ish to Stirling).
A ridiculous amount of big names including (deep breath) Patti Smith, Belle & Sebastian, Camera Obscura, Yard Act, Amy MacDonald, Rezillos, Utah Saints, 10cc, Sleaford Mods, Orbital, Buzzcocks, BC Camplight, Honeyblood, Mongo’s Hi fi, Teenage Fanclub, Sacred Paws, 808 State, Boney M, Bluebells, Baccara, and The Singing Kettle are on the bill. Full lineups at www.dounetherabbithole.co.uk.

On Friday, Elbow play the Edinburgh Castle Esplanade, while in the Kingdom of Fife’s newest city, Dunfermline, Michael Cassidy is at P.J. Molloy’s.
In Edinburgh, The Filthy Tongues play The Voodoo Rooms, and The Jellyman’s Daughter are at Hypercoaster Music in Dundee (possibly Broughty Ferry, check Google for details).

And in Aberdeen, Deadfire, The Starry Wisdom Cult, and from Edinburgh, Earl of Hell, are all at Drummonds.
The Nevis Centre in Fort William welcomes Tide Lines, while even further north, Pleasure Heads are at The Tooth and Claw in Inverness

In Glasgow on Friday, industrial legends Front 242 play Slay, Glasgow, UK and M. Ward, minus She & Him bandmate Zooey Dechanel, is at Oran Mor.
Finally for Friday, Bis fulfil a lifelong ambition, by playing Somerset Park – yes, the football stadium, or at least its Cameron’s Bar – in Ayr.

Saturday 16th sees The Wife Guys of Reddit play a show at Glasgow’s The Old Hairdresser’s, and in rather airier surroundings, Gerry Cinnamon plays the first of two nights at Hampden Park, with The Snuts as support.

And on Sunday, the second Gerry Cinnamon night has guests Travis and Jake Bugg.
Elsewhere on Sunday, The Jellyman’s Daughter play The Larick Centre, in Tayport, Hamish Hawk is (sshh!) at Irvine Library, and Belle and Sebastian are at Motherwell Concert Hall.
