Welcome to 2020… gig-wise things don’t get going until Tuesday, when Livingston-based synth/guitar duo Gravelle are at The Hug and Pint in Glasgow

Winner of the inaugural BBC Radio Scotland Singer/Songwriter Award for 2019, Mike McKenzie, plays King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut, Glasgow, UK

On Thursday it’s Norman Lamont & The Heaven Sent at The Village in Edinburgh (that’s probably Leith really).
In Glasgow, jangly Glasgow quartet Plastic Youth play King Tut’s.

Pretty slim pickings all week really which is why we mention Martin Kemp out of Spandau Ballet, who is at Edinburgh’s Liquid Room on Friday night, while in Aberdeen, local indie quartet Cherry Bleach play Cafe Drummonds.
And in Glasgow, the first of two nights at The Hug and Pint for the excellent tribute act (guess who to), We Are Not Devo.

In Edinburgh on Saturday, Field Music are at The Mash House, launching their new album ‘Making A New World’, which deals with the aftermath of the First World War.
Also in town are punk stalwarts The Lurkers, who play Bannerman’s, and Dublin folkie duo Ye Vagabonds are at Edinburgh’s QUeen’s Hall on Saturday,

Finally, and again, in lieu of nothing else, there’s the intriguingly-named The Boy with the Lion Head – the Borders-based post-rockers are at Broadcast, in Glasgow.
