With Celtic Connections done for another year, Glasgow takes a breather and other parts of the country step up their live scene. And there’s Monday night music and drama, as A New International have a show at the capital’s Traverse Theatre Bar, a collaboration called ‘The Earth’ with theatre company Vanishing Point

On Wednesday, Argentian-Scots world-dub combo Maxi Roots are at Dundee’s
Reading Rooms.

On Thursday, in Dundee, The Godfathers are at the Voodoo Rooms
And also on Thursday, the Spectra Festival kicks off – Plaid and Emma Pollock among the acts performing in a four-day celebration of light and music.

Also on Thursday, MaxiRoots arrive in Glasgow and pick up Mungo’s Hi Fi on the way to a show at the Berkeley Suite

On Friday – well, the only show we have listed for Inverness this week, and they’re called Super Hans, presumably after the Peep Show character, so their Ironworks gig is surely worth a mention.

Another Friday show, The Go! Team come to the Queen Margaret Union in Glasgow, doubtless giving their new album ‘Semicircle’ a plug.

And also with a new album are The Skids, and they’ll be punting ‘Burning Cities’ at a hometown show at Dunfermline’s Glen Pavilion. (PJ Molloy’s is also listed, it should be fairly obvious which it is…)

And up the road – well, along the road a bit but still in Fife, TEEN SENSATIONS Static Union have a show at the Windsor Hotel in Kirkcaldy.
In Edinburgh, a couple of Friday night shows – Ded Rabbit are at Sneaky Pete’s, and davesnewbike have a gig at Leith Depot.

And The Godfathers hit the north, so to speak, with a gig at Beat Generator in Dundee.

On Saturday, globetrotting alt.blues troubadour Dave Arcari is back in familiar surroundings – at Glasgow’s Buchanan Memorial Hall.

Good news for the good but often music-starved denizens of Dumfries, there’s a gig on Saturday. Better still, it’s The Skids, at The Venue

Edinburgh-based Texan singer-songwriter Erin Bennett is launching her new album ‘Post Sexy Post Truth’ with a few record shop shows. She’s at Feel The Groove Music, in Paisley, on Saturday, and on Sunday afternoon, at Ayr’s Big Sparra Vinyl,

And finally, on Sunday night, indiepop legends The Lovely Eggs, playing The Mash House, in Edinburgh,.
