Well, it’s festival season, but even those of us who detest the prospect of freezing rain and warm lager in a muddy field might be willing to put up with that rather than another weekend spent in what we’d usually regard as our relatively luxurious lounge.

But Solas Festival will go ahead this week, in virtual and ‘makeshift’ form – Admiral Fallow, Blue Rose Code, Stanley Odd, Hamish Hawk, Carla J. Easton, Kapil Seshasayee, Tinderbox Orchestra and Karine Polwart are among those taking part in the three-day online version starting Friday evening. There’s even yoga and kids’ storytelling for that authentic festival experience, though you’ll have to drop your own veggieburger into a puddle.

And a more ‘traditional’ online event, if you see what we mean – a Music Venues Trust online fundraiser which kicks off on Thursday night with a ‘warm-up’ set by Fran Healy out of Travis, followed by an all-dayer with KT Tunstall, Xcerts, Be Charlotte, Fatherson, Honeyblood and loads more teaming up to #SaveOurScottishVenues, on Friday evening.

We discovered the Scotsman Sessions last week, they’ve now recorded 50 including Karine Polwart, Pictish Trail, Roddy Woomble, Stina Honeyblood, Dean Pwens, James Yorksyton, Emma Pollock, Justin currie, Carla J Easton, Sam out of Twin Atlantic, C Duncan, Siobhan Wilson, Laviia Blackwall, Erland Cooper, and a shedload of other less indie-oriented acts – see the full catalogue here.

A quick note: Dave Arcari plays a livestream set on Monday 29th June (more on that nearer the time) but fans can pick the setlist cast your vote at www.facebook.com/davearcarimusic.

Finally, on Sunday: ballboy – well, Gordon Macintyre – will be playing a live set via Instagram Live at 9pm UK time, @ballboymusic. It’ll be the twelfth in his series, and if you missed the previous ones, here’s last week’s:
