It’s all a bit old school rock this week…
Take Tuesday, when The Gaslight Anthem are at the Barrowland in Glasgow
Scottish duo Doghouse Roses and U.S. (Philadelphia) native Joseph Parsons have a co-headline tour this week – kicking off at Glasgow’s Doublet.
On Thursday, in Perth, Southern Fried Festival 2018 opens. Lasting four days, it’s wall-to-wall Americana, and there’s the likes of Blue Rose Code, Graham Nash, Dean Owens and Gretchen Peters on the bill.
ALso on Thursday, but in Glasgow, The Little Kicks play King Tut’s while former New York Doll Sylvain Sylvain is at St Luke’s.
In Montrose (a phrase you don’t hear too often), Doghouse Roses are at the Links Hotel.
Running from Friday to Sunday in the salubrious environs of Mugdock Country Park, MugStock has (of course) Colonel Mustard & the Dijon 5, plus Asian Dub Foundation, Roddy Woomble, Solareye, Girobabies, Mt. Doubt, Yoko Pwno… all your favourites.
In town and under cover, former Charlatan Tim Burgess is at Stereo – not too sure if he’s playing records or actually working for his money.
And also kicking off on Thursday, at the Rothsay Pavilion on the Isle of Bute, ButeFest 2018 – Roddy Woomble, Neville Staple Band, King Creosote, The Youth & Young and Dougie Maclean among the large and varied bill.
Saturday night in Glasgow, Golden and Vistas are at King Tut’s, while at the Barras, the first of two shows from Del Amitri.
In Embra, Tim Burgess plays (records at?) The Liquid Room, while in Aberdeen Doghouse Roses are at the Blue Lamp
Not at Southern Fried, oddly enough, but instead at Edinburgh’s Voodoo Rooms, the Wynntown Marshalls
Finally, on Sunday in Glasgow, cheesy reggae legends Chaka Demus & Pliers play SWG3 Galvanizers Yard.
