Mere striplings, post-punk pioneers Wire are at a sold out The Mash House, so indiepop fans may be forced to head along the road to see Kagoule at Sneaky Pete’s
Again, Edinburgh is the place to be (not a phrase you hear too often) on Tuesday as Mull Historical Society at the Voodoo Rooms, Edinburgh, and in a week-long stint at Royal Lyceum Theatre, Karine Polwart‘s first theatre work, ‘Wind Resistance’.
In Glasgow, grunge-pop sounds, as Dinosaur Pile-Up play King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut while Kagoule are at Broadcast.
At Bloc later that night, Flux Velociraptor, along with Chew, visit Bar Bloc.
On Wednesday in Edinburgh, …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, who seem to be on the same Summerhall bill as My Vitriol. Same night, folk-punkers Oysterband celebrate 40 years in the biz, at The Queen’s Hall.
On Wednesday, Edinburgh indie act Vistas play Aberdeen Lemon Tree, and we welcome Bathgate Midnight Breakfast Club to the gig guide, as they host Wick’s finest, Neon Waltz.
But if it’s vintage you’re after, former Move and Wizzard frontman Roy Wood is at Glasgow’s Pavilion Theatre.
Though if you really want vintage, hang on till Thursday – Lulu‘s at Motherwell Concert Hall.
Also on Thursday, Ded Rabbit play Aberdeen Lemon Tree while Vistas are at the Tooth and Claw in Inverness.
On Friday, The Filthy Tongues play Beat Generator in Dundee, and in Edinburgh, 70s shock rockers (c. all tabloids) The Tubes are at The Liquid Room.
In Glasgow, Martin Stephenson is with The Daintees at Òran Mór, and at Tchai-Ovna (West End version) Vukovar are accompanied by former Strawberry Switchblade singer Rose McDowall.
On Friday, Vistas‘ round-Scottish trip takes them to Conroy’s Basement in Dundee.
And kicking off on Friday, the two-day North Hop festival, at the MacDonald Resort in Aviemore. We Came From Wolves and Moteh Parrott are on the bill, as are some beers…
The Highlands are being spoiled this week, as on Saturday Brownbear are at Blackstairs Lounge in Wick.
Saturday also sees The View‘s highland odyssey continue, at the Nevis Centre in Fort William, and psychobilly revival ahoy, The Meteors are at Paisley’s Bungalow Bar.
In Glasgow… not sure quite what’s being revived, but Senser play the Cathouse.
On Sunday, Lulu‘s at the Rothes Hall, Glenrothes, The Travelling Band play Edinburgh’s Mash House.
Finally, in Glasgow, Pins follow their recent Breeders support with a headline show at Stereo.
