Monday night is music night, though perhaps Tiffany might be pushing that a little. The 80s popster is at Edinburgh Voodoo Rooms, possibly because the St James shopping centre is currently not in use.
Alternatively, The Decemberists play Glasgow’s O2 Academy.

In Glasgow the following night, goth-punks (yes, it is an official genre) Killing Joke grace the stage of the Barrowland, and Parquet Courts are at SWG3. And Hothouse Flowers – another 80s throwback – play Glasgow’s QMU.

On Wednesday, Japanese psych rockers Acid Mothers Temple are in Edinburgh, at the Mash House while by way of contrast, Arrested Development – you remember, the ‘Mr Wendell’ mob – play the Liquid Room.
And in Glasgow, Baxter Dury – you know, Ian’s boy – is at SWG3.

Not much in Aberdeen this week – probably all b nursing their Sound Festival hangovers – but the aptly, who knows, named, DJ Boring is at The Tunnels

On Thursday, Blancmange (ok, half of them) are back, at the Voodoo Rooms in Edinburgh, and from almost as long ago, The House Of Love, complete with Thousand Yard Stare, play the QMU in Glasgow while Slaves are at the Barras.
In Inverness, Arrested Development play Ironworks, and at Edinburgh’s Ghillie Dhu, former Y’all Is Fantasy Island man Robbie Lesiuk.

Friday night seems to have something for every age group, pretty much – The Proclaimers (who themselves cover all the bases) play Edinburgh’s Playhouse Theatre, a mere skip and a hop from Leith.
And, Edinburgh Music Lovers (EML) present the Scottish debut in Scotland of London rap/spoken word artist, Kojey Radical, at The Caves.
Plus – if that wasn’t enough – Peggy Seeger… you know, Ewan MacColl’s missus, Kirsty’s step-mum – is in Kelso, at Tait Hall.

In Glasgow, the first of two nights for Sydney Devine at the Pavilion Theatre, and Blancmange are at Òran Mór. The Cowboy Junkies play the Mitchell Theatre, and for da yoof, the rather excellent Mouse Outfit play Stereo, while Slam make one of their periodical outings to the Sub Club.

Same drill on Saturday – for the Britpop era, Sleeper are at The Garage and at the Academy, MC50, who have got (Wayne) Kramer as support.

In Edinburgh, Horse is at The Queen’s Hall, The Mouse Outfit play The Mash House, and at Summerhall, Meursault, Rituals are among the acts fighting to Save Leith Walk.
And Peggy Seeger is at the Pleasance Theatre.

On Sunday, Peggy Seeger continues her short tour of unusual outposts for a show at the Fraser Centre in Milngavie. Supersuckers are at Audio in Glasgow, and lucky Dumfries get the first Scottish date from Mekons 77 – reprising their original punk catalogue, at The Venue in Dumfries, and in Inverness it’s the Dan Reed Network plus The Dead Daisies at Ironworks.
