Some top names visiting Scotland this week – but nothing until Tuesday, so put your feet up…
On Tuesday 16th, former Can man (er…) Damo Suzuki is at at Beat Gererator in Deundee with the mighty Stoor in support.
In Edinburgh, Meursault play Henry’s Cellar.
On Wednesday Simple Minds are at the Caird Hall – they’re also at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall the following two nights. And… they’re acoustic! (can’t wait to hear ‘I Travel’).
And Martin Stephenson – no Daintees on the bill, so probably acoustic as well – is at the Inchyra Arts Club in Perth.
In Edinburgh, Spook School are back – with a set at Banshee Labrynth.
And in Glasgow, at Bloc, jazz-punk-thrash-no-funk with Thunkfish.
The Wayne Devro Set are at Glasgow Hug and Pint, on Thursday 18th, launching their debut album – for the uninitiated, they are Brian Docherty, of Scientific Support Dept fame. Meanwhile, Michael Gira rings his current lineup of Swans to Oran Mor, and Spook School play the 13th Note.
In Edinburgh, Lush Purr (who contain parts of The Yawns) give album ‘Cuckoo Waltz’ a bit of a shove, at Leith Depot.
On Friday in Inverness, at Ironworks, it’s Twin Atlantic.
In Glasgow, The View are at the Barras (getting some new jeans – cheers).
Shuffledown Festival is at Larbert’s Dobbie Hall on Saturday 20th. The all-day event has Promto Mama, HQFU, and Lonely Tourist all on the bill.
In Perth, at the Concert Hall, The View celebrate 10 years (yes, it is that long) since the release of ‘Hats Off To The Buskers’.
Friday sees Michael Gira bring Swans to Aberdeen’s Lemon Tree, while by way of contrast, KT Tunstall is at the Queen’s Hall in Edinburgh. And somewhere in the middle The Filthy Tongues are at Kirkcaldy’s Windsor Hotel. And Damo Suzuki is at Stereo.
Finally, Sunday has Kris Drever at Edinburgh’s Queen’s Hall, while Damo Suzuki is at the Mash House.
