With live shows back in full flow, Glasgow has a busy gig calendar, starting NOW, assuming you’re reading this on Monday 27th, when Scritti Politti are at Saint Luke’s, while Black Midi play Glasgow Uni’s QMU.

Also on Monday, at Perth’s Concert Hall, ancient flute-propelled proggers Jethro Tull.

On Tuesday Jethro Tull are at the Pavilion Theatre in Glasgow, Squid play SWG3 TV Studio, and Chemikal Underground’s Adrian Crowley is at the CCA.

In Edinburgh, Virginia Wing play Sneaky Pete’s, while in somewhat grander surroundings The Manic Street Preachers are at the Usher Hall

On Wednesday 29th, the Manic Street Preachers continue to celebrate their number one album ‘The Ultra Vivid Lament’ by playing Dundee Caird Hall.

On Thursday 30th, Constant Follower launch their debut album for Shimmy Disc, ‘Neither Is, Or Ever Was’, at Glasgow southside’s finest venue, The Glad Café.

On Thursday in the capital, The Slow Readers Club give new single ‘Tell No Lies’ an airing at the Liquid Room, and the Martin Metcalfe / Richard Jobson tag team has a hometown show for the latter, at Fire Station Creative in Dunfermline.

Into October and on Friday 1st, Erasure are at the Armadillo in Glasgow, while in Cumbernauld’s Bar Yellow (no, us neither), one of those Skids/Goodbye Mr Mackenzie double-headers with Martin Metcalfe and Richard Jobson.

In Edinburgh, on Friday Blancmange play The Liquid Room, and Mt. Doubt play their first show in quite some time, at the Victoria Hotel on Edinburgh’s Ferry Road, while also on Friday, at Arbroath’s Webster Memorial Theatre, Idlewild frontman Roddy Woomble is in solo mode, while up the road, Slam are in Dundee, at King’s (you might need to Google that one)

The following night i.e. Saturday, Spizz Energi are at Edinburgh’s Bannerman’s, and in Dunfermline, Sumshapes play the aptly-entitled Legends because all three members were once in Glasgow’s iconic post(?)punk act Dawson)

On Saturday 2nd, at Glasgow’s Oran Mor, the revitalised Blancmange
And on Sunday in Glasgow, Man of the Minch give new album ‘The Tide Is At The Turning’ a well-deserved punt at Room 2. Same night, Edinburgh/Glasgow act waverley, most recently recording with Rod Jones, make the journey west for a show at The Hug and Pint.

Also on Saturday, Jobson and Metcalfe are at Strathearn Artspace – in Crieff (as far as we can tell).

Finally, on Sunday 3rd October, in Edinburgh, Beabadoobee are at the Liquid Room.
