As is often the case in summer, gigs are concentrated towards the weekend, so have Monday evening off.

On Tuesday 26th, Graham Costello’s Strata are the only show in town, if your town is Glasgow – at Bloc+.

Fast forward to Thursday and the start of the four-day Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival – taking place near Inverness, the almost certainly sold-out event has as headliners Van Morrison, Chic, Stiff Little Fingers, Shed Seven, Sam Ryder, Goodbye Mr. MacKenzie, The Fratellis, and Emile Sande.

Also sold out, Yard Act, who play at Edinburgh’s The Caves, while you should be able to get a ticket for Stiff Little Fingers at the Corn… sorry, Edinburgh O2 Academy, though The Skids and TV Smith should boost numbers somewhat.

Also in Glasgow on Thursday, Peter Hook & The Light play the Barrowland, and at Kelvingrove Bandstand, Billy Bragg performs as part of Summer Nights, and Emma Pollock is special guest, performing with cellist Pete Harvey.

Friday 29th sees Plasmas play a hometown show in Dundee, at The Hunter S Thompson, while in Edinburgh, Dean Wareham out of Galaxie 500 is at the Liquid Room, performing his former band’s classic album ‘On Fire’.

And in Cumbernauld, Broken Chanter is at Cumbernauld Theatre.

On Saturday July 30th, Dean Owens has a show at Perth Concert Hall, Stiff Little Fingers are at The Lemon Tree in Aberdeen, Vistas play P.J. Molloy’s in Dunfermline, and Dean Wareham, in in Glasgow, at Oran Mor.

Finally, to Sunday as we hit August – ’80s star Joe Jackson is at The Queen’s Hall, and also in Edinburgh, and Plasmas play Sneaky Pete’s.
