The Band Formerly Known As Happy Meals have released a new single, ‘Pushing Too Hard’.

Free Love – the new monicker of Suzanne Roden and Lewis Cook – have followed up previous single ‘Synchronicity’ with the new tune, which features French vocals from Suzanne.

The name change came “after entering a new creative phase”, and is not, apparently, the result of any legal action from Ronald McDonald.

The band first emerged, under their old name, in 2014 from Glasgow’s Green Door Studio, and their debut album ‘Apéro’ was shortlisted for Scottish Album Of The Year in 2015, while last year’s follow-up, ‘Full Ashram Devotional Ceremony’, has made the longlist for this year’s SAY Award.

The new single comes with a bonus track (maybe what we used to call a ‘b-side’?), ‘July’, and is available as a digital download.

Next chance to catch the duo live is when they support Django Django at Edinburgh International Festival later this summer.

10th August – Django Django support Edinburgh International Festival
4th October – James Holden support London Southbank Centre
3rd November – The Tunnels, Aberdeen
16th November – Brave Exhibitions Festival, Newcastle
