Franz Ferdinand have announced a new album, and made a lead track, ‘Always Ascending’, available

Also entitled ‘Always Ascending’, the band’s fifth album will be released by Domino on 9th February next year.

The new material is the first since the band became a five piece, founding member Nick McCarthy being replaced by both Justin ‘Miaoux Miaoux’ Corrie, and former 1990s guitarist Dino Bardot.

The album was recorded at RAK Studios, London and Motorbass in Paris, with the help of French producer Philippe Zdar, who has previously worked with the likes of Cassius, Phoenix and The Beastie Boys.

The album tracklisting is as follows:
1. Always Ascending
2. Lazy Boy
3. Paper Cages
4. Finally
5. The Academy Award
6. Lois Lane
7. Huck And Jim
8. Glimpse Of Love
9. Feel The Love Go
