Familial release their debut EP, ‘1821’.

The duo – Edinburgh-based Calum Stewart, and Andrew Stewart, who is resident in Yorkshire – originally both hail from East Kilbride.

‘1821’, ‘All That’s Left (Is His Head)’, ‘Smile’ and ‘Piano Nostra’ – are the first of a dozen tunes to be completed over the next six months.

The four tracks – available on iTunes – are the work of the pair, but with Fender Rhodes on closing track ‘Piano Nostra’ contributed by Michael Roddy, with backing vocals on the same tune by India Kitty Stewart – an Edinburgh-based artist who also provides the accompanying film/animation.

Also making a guest appearance is Idlewild’s Rod Jones, playing trumpet on the title track. Jones also recorded and engineered the tracks, at his Post Electric Studios in November 2018.
