The Ewan Macintyre Band release a new album, ‘Dream on Sally’, via Broken Car Recordz.

The act’s first long-player – and Macintyre’s second solo release – is available to download, or stream.

The Montreal-based act, led by Scots ex-pat Macintyre, recorded the album’s eight tracks in Quebec, aside from opener ‘Same Story’, recorded by Gordon Maclean at An Tobar, Isle of Mull.

Macintyre moved to Canada, from Edinburgh, in 2014, and the following year recorded and produced his first solo EP ‘You Probably Look Better Naked Anyway’ with producer and engineer Pat Bourget in Montreal.

That same combination is responsible for the new release, with the frontman also taking on guitar duties, while bandmates Peter Menzies add fiddle, Karine Bouchard is on violoncelle, Ian Belcourt on contrebasse, and Antoine Larocque on accordion and backing vocals, while Dana Babineau-Burns and Amanda Gibeau provide backing vocals.

“The new album is a celebration of our relationship as a trio and the amalgamation of 5 years hard work,” Macintyre says of the new release.

”I also wanted to include a more Celtic, traditional-sounding element that is closer to what our live show is about,” he adds.

Since emigrating, the former member of the Southern Tenant Folk Union has recorded one solo album, ‘Road Junkie’, and an EP, as well as two live long players.

While in Scotland he had performed on the STFU releases ‘Hello Cold, Goodbye Sun’ and ‘Pencaitland’, as well as ‘The Legendary Tale of Captain Baz’ by Ruby and The Emeralds.
