Dave Arcari releases a new single, ‘Whisky Trail’ – well, to be precise, he put it out on World Music Day, Thursday 21 June; sorry we missed it.

The track – a tribute to his ‘local’ Glengoyne distillery – is available to stream and download via Spotify, Apple Music and all digital services and precedes a short run of festival and club dates in the Netherlands and Germany.

Arcari then returns home for some UK festival dates before embarking on his sixth USA tour through October into November.

The new track is a minor departure, mellower and showcasing Arcari’s banjo playing as opposed to his usual frenetic slide guitar work.

“Actually, the banjo has featured in my live set for a while, but I only had a couple of songs on it,” he says. “And while they (‘Still Friends’ and ‘Good Moonshine’) have become crowd favourites, I felt it was becoming too predictable that I’d play these songs when I picked up the banjo.

“So I was keen to come up with a new banjo song that was a little different. This one is based on the story of Glengoyne single malt whisky… our local distillery. There’s a few more in the pipeline for both slide guitar and banjo.”

On his return from his US tour Arcari will play Scottish shows towards the end of the year, at King Tuts (Glasgow), Sneaky Pete’s (Edinburgh) and Clarks (Dundee).
