Constant Follower release a double-A-side single ‘I Can’t Wake You’ / ‘Altona’

The follow-up to ‘Set Aside Some Time‘ from July, the band have described it as the final release before they “go international” – the Stirling-based act having just signed a deal with US-based label Shimmy Disc/Joyful Noise, an imprint which has featured the likes of Sebadoh, Deerhoof, and The Low Anthem.

This will see the quartet produced by the label’s legendary founder Kramer (Galaxie 500, Daniel Johnston, Low, and a Billboard top 40 hit with his most recent project ‘Let It Come Down’).

This also means that the foursome – McAll, guitarist Andrew Pankhurst, Amy Campbell on backing vocals and synth, and McAll’s partner Kathleen Stosch on backing vocals, synth and bass – will see their debut album ‘Neither is, nor ever was…’ appear on the New York-based label in March 2021.

However, the current single – ‘I Can’t Wake You’ and ‘Altona’ – meaning “all too near” in German – come with accompanying videos by Swedish artist Nathalia van de Kerst, who discovered a box of antique glass negatives hidden away since the earliest days of photography and used these alongside shots of the band’s frontman McAll during a recent visit to Stirling.

As well as download, the new tracks are available on CD, and also come as a limited edition ‘The Singles So Far’ which also includes ‘Set Aside Some Time’ and ‘On Old Shorelines (For Nicki)’.
