Community Swimming Pool release a new single ‘Number One’.
It follows the debut single ‘Upside Down’ – released last August – from what is the pseudonym of Glasgow-based dream-pop multi-instrumentalist Brett McCann.
While its predecessor was put out by Berlin’s Backpack Records, the new track comes via Slovakian label Z Tapes. It’s self-recorded and produced, McCann playing all instruments apart from drums, which are supplied by the “simply phenomenal” Sam Leighton, also of Rev Magnetic and Vistas.
McCann explains how he “wrote this song in the summertime, about how my life was effectively ruined for a while by somebody who I spent five years of my life with, but then it switches to focusing on somebody else who changed my life for the better in the choruses.
“It’s an optimistic song about looking forwards and learning to let go of my past.”
