Colonel Mustard & the Dijon 5 release a new EP, ‘This is Your House’, on the Button Up label.
Taken from forthcoming second album ‘The Difficult Number 2’, the track features dance music icon Mary Kiani and rapper DopeSickFly.
Available on Amazon or iTunes are five tracks on the EP, including remixes by Micky Modelle, Mickey 9s, the Yellow Movement’s Mark DjFive Lang, and antipodean producer Steve Peach.
The lead track is produced by Paul Gallagher – also known as front of house engineer for Chvrches – and follows ‘G.T.’, which was championed by BBC 6Music’s Amy Lamé, as was its successor ‘Ted Dancin‘, which reached No.7 in the Scottish Charts.
The follow-up to debut album ‘Party To Make Music To Party To Make Music To Party To 1‘ also contains various guest appearances, ranging from Larry Love (Alabama 3) to Gavin Mitchell (Still Game).
John McMustard, aka the Colonel, says of the forthcoming long-player: “There’s no filler. Every song works well individually, but as a whole the album takes you on a musical journey into the different genres that we love.
“What’s remained is the spirit of unity and community that lies at the heart of all the music we make. Gals’ studio is tied to the Castlemilk Youth Complex so we’ve even had the local kids’ choir in singing on a couple of tunes which is brilliant.”
Album ‘The Difficult Number 2’ is due out on April 30th, with a launch stream show at Glasgow Barrowland Ballroom on 1st May 1st, in a show that will mark the band’s fifth appearance on the legendary stage, after the venue inducted them into the Barrowland Hall of Fame last year.
As part of the market’s centenary celebrations, the launch show will be recorded partly in the iconic Barras market itself, and for every ticket sold for the event, £1 will be going to the Trees For Life Charity – tickets available here.
