Glasgow duo Cloth have announced their signing to Mogwai’s Rock Action label with news of an EP, ‘Low Sun’.

The first taster from the four track release is single ‘Lucid’, available digitally now.

The EP will also be available online as well as a limited coloured ice blue 12” vinyl, due on October 7th 2022, and is available to pre-order now.

Influenced by Cocteau Twins and The XX, Cloth began performing together in 2018.

The band – twins Rachael and Paul Swinton – formed in 2018, having moved to Glasgow to study, and quickly found themselves playing in bands on the local scene.

Their debut self-titled album from 2019 was released to critical acclaim making the Scottish Album of the Year Award Shortlist and was named as a “Tip for 2020” by BBC Radio’s Huw Stephens.

The band have previously toured with new labelmates Aidan Moffat & RM Hubbert as well as playing with Arab Strap and The Twilight Sad at their recent sell-out Glasgow Barrowland shows.

Of ‘Lucid’, guitarist Paul says: “It was the first song we wrote for the EP and it felt like it set a tone for where we should go with the other songs – somewhere darker and bigger.

“The song is about being wrapped up in a situation you feel you have no control over then realising you do have the ability and agency to change things for the better.”

Also accompanying the release is exclusive imagery created by Hand Held Cine Club (Justin Lockey)
