With Rockness this weekend you might imagine tha everyone has headed for Invermness, but no, plenty of shows around the country. Although oop north, at GoNorth, there’s a bloggers showcase (Popcop, Toad and Peenko) at Blackfriars on Thursday, June 7, with Chris Devotion & The Expectations, Sebastian Dangerfield, Yusuf Azak and Make Sparks.

Stepping back and down, post-punk legends The Nightingales are at Glasgow’s Nice’n’Sleazy on Wednesday 6th.

The following night, Stevie Jackson continues to fill in the quiet period for Belle and Sebastian, with a solo show at Oran Mor on Thurs 7th.
And, five acts from boutique dance label 100% Silk feature at Cry Parrot‘s showcase show at Nice N Sleazy on Thursday (7th June) – LA Vampires, Ital, Maria Minerva, Magic Touch & Innergaze.

In Glasgow, on Friday, Touch Sensitive launches their Scots-Spanish compilation album at the Old Hairdressers (as featured elsewhere)

And at Stereo on Friday, a Doune The Rabbit Hole preview kinda show at Stereo. The festival’s at Duncarron in August, but their ‘takeover’ weekend at Stereo in Glasgow shows off some of the bands who’ll be playing the festival proper –
including Adam Stearn & The Glass Animals‘ single launch, followed by a Doune the Rabbit Hole Club Night featuring: Fast Camels, Battery Face, The Cosmic Dead (with Drummers 3) on Friday, and sets from: Mitchell Museum, The Clock, Un Cadavre, Aperture, Edinburgh School For The Deaf, Seams and Button Up DJs on Saturday.

And Matt Norris and the Moon promote their new ep ‘This Kingdom’ (on 17seconds) at Falkirk 20 Rocks on Friday (and the Classic Grand in Glasgow on the Saturday). Which makes two shows of note in Falkirk within a week, with a croaky Elton John playing at the football stadium on Sunday.

The capital busies up a bit at the weekend – Night Noise Team play Edinburgh Sneaky Pete’s on Friday 8th…
And, same night, the final Limbo of the season, locals HRH jare oined by Muscles Of Joy (Scottish Album Of The Year award nominees). Also on the bill are and The Tide Inside, launching a single On My Way Back Down, which trails ran album already finished and set for release later this summer.

The night after i.e. Saturday 9th, Black International are at the Wee Red Bar.

Finally – The Damned play the O2 ABC in Glasgow on Saturday. Sadly, on the same night, in a piece of goth-unfriendy scheduling to make everyone very unhappy, the March Violets are at the Classic Grand.
