Carla J Easton releases a new single, ‘Weirdo’, via the Olive Grove record label.

The title track from her forthcoming album, the new song features a guest appearance by Stina Tweeddale of Honeyblood.

The 12 track long-player is set to be released on August 28th on Olive Grove Records, and also includes recent singles ‘Never Knew You‘ and ‘Get Lost‘.

The album, available to pre-order, was written over the course of a year the former TeenCanteen frontwoman spent sofa-surfing, and follows ‘Impossible Stuff’, shortlisted for Scottish Album of The Year 2019.

‘Weirdo’ – single and album – were recorded with Scott Paterson (Sons and Daughters), the pair initially meeting while playing in the live band for The Vaselines 2019 tour, and beginning writing music together after playing at Belle and Sebastian’s ‘Boaty Weekender’ floating tour of the Med.

The album was recorded in Chvrches’ old basement studio in Glasgow and as well as Tweeddale’s appearance on the title track, also includes guest spots for Micah Erenberg and Dave Hook (Solareye / Stanley Odd),

Of the single Easton says: “I’ve often been told I am weird – like that’s a derogatory word”.

“Let’s be clear,” she insists, “normal doesn’t exist. The things that make me weird are the things that make me, me.”
