Broken Chanter – the pseudonym of David MacGregor – releases a self-titled debut album via Olive Grove Records & Last Night From Glasgow.

The new solo guise of the Kid Canaveral frontman has produced a nine-track release available via a joint venture between the two Glasgow-based labels, the album on all formats including vinyl.

Written and demoed in various locations around the Highlands and Islands including Ardnamurchan and Skye, MacGregor worked with Kid Canaveral’s engineer and producer Gal (who has also produced Chvrches, Man of Moon and Frightened Rabbit) in a remote house in County Donegal.

As well as synth from the Galchen member, other collaborators include Audrey Tait (Hector Bizerk, The Girl Who Cried Wolf); Jill O’Sullivan (Sparrow and the Workshop, bdy_prts, Jill Lorean); Emma Kupa (Mammoth Penguins, Standard Fare); Kim Carnie (BBC Young Trad Musician of the Year Finalist 2017); Hannah Shepherd (eagleowl, Our Ladies of Sorrow, Withered Hand); and Gav Prentice (ULTRAS, Over the Wall) who also co-wrote ‘Free Psalm’ and ‘Cheering in the Distance’.
