Kicking things off this week, on Monday – the band formerly known as ‘one half of F*ck B*ttons’ – Blanck Mass – are at Aberdeen’s Lemon Tree… They also play Beat Generator in Dundee on Thursday and Glasgow’s Stereo on Friday.

Some mainstream choices for you in the capital on Tuesday – The Vaccines are at the Usher Hall on Tuesday, while at the Liquid Room. Or, Scouting For Girls at the Liquid Room. You choose.
Nottingham trio and Earache signings Kagoule are out and about around Scotland – Edinburgh’s Sneaky Pete’s on Wednesday, Broadcast in Glasgow on Thursday, and all the way up to Inverness (weather permitting) for a show at Mad Hatters on Friday, and then to Aberdeen’s Tunnels on Saturday night.
Wednesday’s busy in Glasgow – former Psygotic Mynci Euros Childs plays the CCA, and the reformed Woodentops are at Broadcast. Strange Blue Dreams – featuring various Needles – play the Hug and Pint, while best bandname of the week award goes to Guantanamo Baywatch – they’re at Sleazys so are probably good to listen to as well.
Southern Tenant Folk Union have what looks suspiciously like a tour starting on Wed 9th… it’s a ‘house concert’, check out their Facebook page for details.
On Thursday 10th the band are at Kirkcaldy Acoustic Music Club and on Friday 11th, Clydesdale Folk Club @ Corn Exchange, Biggar. Finally (it is a small tour) on Sat 12th, Kilbarchan Performing Arts Centre.
A New International have a small flurry of live shows, including on December 9th, Glasgow’s Hug & Pint. They’re at Banshee Labyrinth the following night, along with Strange Blue Dreams.
Also on Thursday in Embra, The Rezillos play the Liquid Room on Friday. In Glasgow, Wreckless Eric at the CCA.
Eric Goulden (Wreckless to you) also plays Edinburgh Citrus Club on Friday, while another songwriting hero, Withered Hand is at the Mash House .
In Glasgow, Friday sees Dave Arcari on ice – possibly. Certainly the blues troubadour is at George Square in a free show, early evening. In Perth, at the Green Room, it’s Girobabies, part of their extended album launch. They’re also at the Mash House in Edinburgh on Saturday. In Inverness, Silver Coast play a hometown gig at the Market Bar.
On Friday 11th, the first Edinburgh Integra Music Festival takes place at Teviot Row House. A Scots-Spanish cultural collaboration, there’s more than six hours of live music including, from Spain, Triangulo de Amor Bizzarro, as well as local indie heroes Snide Rhythms.
We career around the country on our way towards the weekend – rock veterans Nazareth are at Aberdeen’s Lemon Tree on Saturday, SAY winner Kathryn Joseph is at Edinburgh’s Pleasance, and The Twilight Sad headline the Barras. Meanwhile, our regular “where the flip is that?” mystery venue is one for The Treacherous Orchestra are at the Drygate, in Glasgow (it seems).
Of course, everyone knows the Woodend Bowling Club on the southside, where Martin Stephenson plays a Sounds in the Suburbs show. In Dumfries, Emily Smith is at the Globe Inn Sat
Sunday sees the vastly talented singer-cartoonist Jeffrey Lewis arrives at The Mash House in Edinburgh.
The Creeping Ivies play Paradise Palms in, er, GLasgow (another venue you’re on your own finding) and rebooted 80s synthpoppers China Crisis are at Oran Mor
Finally, Alasdair Roberts is in Easterhouse, at Platform.
