Bill Wells has released not one but two full albums, available for free.
‘Spring Dreams’ Vol. I and II are both available to download, rather unceremoniously, from the Dropbox account of the Glasgow-based multi-instrumentalist. However, full artwork by Namio Kudo is available for anyone wanting to treat the 24 tracks as ‘proper’ albums.
‘Vol. I’ was “pretty much finished” and rounded off during the past few weeks. The dozen tracks were recorded over the space of the past four years at Loathsome Reels studio. Wells is responsible for all words and music, with previous National Jazz Trio of Scotland collaborator Aby Vulliamy handling vocal duties.
However, ‘Vol. II’ was completed just a week ago – and with instruments recorded at Loathsome Reels this year. Vocals were recorded at Queens Park Cabaret by Audrey Bizouerne – the French-born singer who also plays bass in Rev Magnetic and Alex Rex as well as forming one half of Gift Horse with David Maxwell.
