What’s described as the first comprehensive, career-spanning Bert Jansch collection is to be released by the BMG label.
Available on 2CD / LP, ‘Just A Simple Soul’ has been compiled by long-time friend and collaborator Bernard Butler and begins at the guitar legend’s 1965 self-titled debut long-player.
The 39-track compilation charts everything up until his final studio record, 2006’s Drag City-released ‘The Black Swan’, which featured Beth Orton, Devendra Banhart and Helena Epsvall.
Glasgow-born Jansch, who died in 2011, also founded folk act Pentangle, and was cited as an inspiration from a wide range of famous names including Paul Simon, Johnny Marr, Laura Marling, Graham Coxon, Fleet Foxes and Neil Young.
