Scottish singer-songwriter Angela Musk releases a new EP, ‘Letters’.

Recorded last autumn at Castlesound Studios by Stuart Hamilton, the 4 track EP features a 6 piece line up: Brendan Musk on piano and trumpet, violinist Stewart Musk, Patrick Kenny on trombone, sax player Harry Brunt, Grant Kilpatrick on guitar and drummer Euan Sked.

‘Letters’ contains four tracks, ‘Can I Let Go’, ‘In Another World’, ‘Something’s Changed’ and ‘To Be Free’ – each song written in the style of a letter that addresses something that people might find difficult to talk about in person, such as loss, grief and love.

The new release follows Musk’s debut, ‘Inspiration’, recorded when she was just 16 years old and written within a year of losing her mother.

Of the new material, the singer says: “The songs in ‘Letters’ aren’t afraid to address subjects which are painful, but perhaps not discussed very openly within society. The first track ‘Can I let Go’ was written as a letter to my mother – it talks about all the things that I would love to do with her if she was still here.

“It reflects over on the beautiful memories I have, all the memories I wish I could make, yet also explore the feeling of no longer wanting to reflect on the painful time when she was in her final days. The song asks permission to let go of those painful memories and the guilt of not feeling close to her anymore, yet still maintain the feeling of immeasurable love for her.”

“I really hope that each of the tracks will speak to people from all different walks of life. The four songs address difficult emotions that are universally relatable but also notoriously difficult to talk about.”

The EP is available on CD as well as to stream on Spotify and as an Amazon download.
