Andrew Wasylyk releases a new single, ‘Last Sunbeams Of Childhood’ via the Athens of the North! label

The track, available digitally, acts as a trailer for forthcoming album ‘Fugitive Light And Themes Of Consolation’.

The new 10-track long-player will be available on vinyl and CD as well as digitally, and can be pre-ordered in advance of its release date of September 4th, or pre-saved on Spotify.

The Dundee-based musician, who when not making solo music, can be found variously as a member of Idlewild (under the moniker Andrew Mitchell) and The Hazey Janes, as well as The Grand Gestures.

The forthcoming long player takes its inspiration from the River Tay’s inner estuary, and is the final part in a trilogy themed around the landscape of Eastern Scotland.

2017’s ‘Themes for Buildings and Spaces’ covered the architecture and industry of Dundee, while Scottish Album of the Year Award-shortlisted ‘The Paralian’ focused on sea and shore on the North Sea coastline.

Recorded between summer 2019 and January 2020, as on ‘The Paralian’, the new release features string arrangements by Pete Harvey, known for his work with King Creosote, Modern Studies and The National Theatre of Scotland.
