US act Courtney Marie Andrews plays a couple of Scottish shows this week – on August 29th, at Edinburgh’s Sneaky Pete’s and on the 30th at Glasgow’s Captains Rest. We’re showing our ignorance perhaps as we’ve not encountered her before, but since the Glasgow PodcArt is putting the shows on, probably worthy of investigation.

And a festival in Glasgow – ok, it’s long past festival season, so it’s an indoor affairs. Cry Parrot and Tracer Trails (the latter triumphant gluttons for punishment following last week’s Retreat! fest) present Music Is The Music Message is on Saturday 3rd Sunday 4th – a load of names worth seeing, at SWG3 (Studio Warehouse) and various other venues (NIce’n’Sleazy, The Ivy etc. On the Saturday there’s Richard Youngs, Usurper, Alasdair Roberts, Volcano the Bear, Muscles of Joy, Gummy Stumps, Vom, Ben Butler & Mousepad.
