Adam Stafford releases a new single, ‘Diamonds of a Horse Famine’.

The new track is taken from the album of the same name, due on October 30th, which can be pre-ordered from the recently revived Song By Toad Records.

It follows up previous single ‘Erotic Thistle’, another track stemming from the discovery of a little red book hidden beneath some tupperware in a cardboard box leading to “forgotten stories and mistakes told by different characters”.

“I was obsessed with slide blues and Blind Willie Johnson then and this was a kind of tribute,” Stafford says of the single. Although never recorded, ‘Diamonds of a Horse Famine’ was written when he was only 19 and is technically the oldest song on the collection.

As well as taking on vocals for the track, Stafford plays electric guitar and CS synthesiser.

The track was mastered by Reuben Taylor, while artwork for single and album comes from Paul Tonner, who was also responsible for Malcom Middleton’s ‘Into The Woods’ LP sleeve.

Stafford is also uploading his entire back catalogue onto Bandcamp – a full 80 hours of music from the SAY Award-nominated artist.
