Born to be Wide, the Edinbugh-based music networking event, has announced another Wide Days music seminar and showcase day following last spring’s successful event.

The day of daytime panel and workshop programmes will take place at Edinburgh’s Teviot House on Thursday April 7and feature industry figures engaging in discussions and presentations, as well as an evening of live music (the bands taking part, we’re told, will be announced one per day from this week as an attempt to focus on each individually. Though we’ll probably just round them all up next weekend…)

Seminar topics include how to make touring pay, music in films, digital DIY vs record labels and a guide to British music business gatherings titled ‘Not Just SXSW’, and workshops will cover money-making tips for artists, online promotion, a guide to earning cash through PPL and how to write a decent band biog.

The initial batch of confirmed speakers include The Great Escape founder and Glastonbury booker Martin Elbourne, Chemikal Underground boss (and former Delgado) Stewart Henderson, pictured, front, and Scottish Highland promoter Robert Hicks.

Full price tickets are £34.50, with an under 18s option at £16 and a ‘fund raiser’ (kind of for corporate and business types) available for £130. MU and Edinburgh University students [whose union is hosting the daytime programme] can get discounted tickets for £23, which is also the price for ‘early bird’ passes, until March 10.

Tickets are now on sale exclusively from Eventzi: www.eventzi.com/widedays
