It’s the turn of Glasgow’s Jazz festival to announce its lineup, and the 25th incarnation of the event has put in a strong lineup to compete with the Edinburgh version for indie-schmindie content.
Main attraction may well be Aidan Moffat and Bill Wells who play at Platform in Easterhouse on 2nd July, though at the same venue Italian post rockers Zu – who have collaborated with Mike Patton, The Ex, Steve Albini and Bob Weston – play at the same venue the night before (July 1st).
A varied lineup also includes appearances from Beat Poets, Brass Jaw, Cleo Laine, Courtney Pine, Craig Charles Funk & Soul Show, Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra, Madaleine Pritchard The Johnny 7, Tommy Smith, Todd Gordon, , plus regular lower-key sets Jazz at The 78, and the traditional screening of Jazz on a Summer’s Day,

The fest runs from 29 June – 3 July 2011, with a total of over 80 gigs at 24 venues across the city and features almost 500 artists. More at www.jazzfest.co.uk
