Gordon Strachan and the Scotland football team have given their seal of approval for a new European Qualifier campaign song by Wishaw-based quintet Vigo Thieves.

The band are members of the Scotland Supporters Club and after writing ‘Believe’ about by time traveling to support the team, played a gig at the team’s headquarters, Mar Hall on the Monday before the win over Georgia in front of fellow SSC members and the Scotland squad.

The tune will now be played before all Group D home matches.

Scotland coach Gordon Strachan, said “I am a lover of football and music and think the two are intertwined, especially in the build-up to big matches”.

“I heard the song for the first time last week and was impressed: it captures the mood of the Scotland supporters and the optimism to believe that we can sustain a challenge and qualify for Euro 2016.” Strachan is a friend of Rod Stewart and (apparently) Tim Booth out of James.

The band play at the Dunfermline Live minifestival on October 18th, before a hometown(ish) show at Glasgow 02 ABC on December 20th.
