Gig promoter and all-round mainstays of the Scottish scene, Tracer Trails, will be embarking on a new in 2011. To mark the 60th anniversary of the School of Scottish Studies at the University of Edinburgh, they will be commissioning three Scottish artists – Alasdair Roberts, Aileen Campbell and Drew Wright (Wounded Knee) – to create brand new works based on excavations conducted in the Archives of the School.
These field recordings of traditional songs, tales, oral history, plus photography and video are on open reels, cassettes, discs and even wax cylinders.
The three artists will be in residence in the Archives for 12 weeks from January 13th. The results will be developed over the summer, and toured round Scotland in autumn 2011.

Progress throughout will be documented via a blog at www.archivetrails.com. More also at www.tracertrails.com/projects.
