Spiritualized and Thurston Moore out of Sonic Youth are among the headliners announced for Doune the Rabbit Hole, the annual festival which takes place in July at Cardross Estate, near Port of Menteith.
This year’s three-day event is a slightly downsized affair, with no Thursday night opening, and what appears to be a less star-studded lineup compared to the 2022 edition which saw the the likes of Patti Smith, Sleaford Mods, Belle and Sebastian, Orbital, Boney M and 10cc appear.
However, aside from the pair of indie legends Thurston and Jason (plus one more main stage headliner TBA), the lineup for July 21 – 23 still finds space for Black Grape, Asian Dub Foundation, Alabama 3, Steve Mason, James Grant & The Hallelujah Strings, The Langan Band, Gina Birch (The Raincoats), Goldie Lookin’ Chain, Lung Leg, and festival stalwarts, the ever-present “many many more”.
The organisers have also addressed the situation where many acts and suppliers are still owed money from last year’s event – in a lengthy statement, DtRH detail what caused the 2022 edition to be loss-making, and the process which will, they hope, see creditors receive what they are owed from the profits the forthcoming festival, as well as this year’s artists and other parties guaranteed payment via agreements with the Musicians Union and BECTU.
