Five classic Teenage Fanclub albums are getting vinyl reissues – and the band are to play them live on a UK tour.

“The best band in the world” (that was Kurt Cobain, though who are we to disagree?) will kick off the series of shows with three consecutive nights at Glasgow’s O2 ABC on October 28.

The group are re-visiting the albums they released from 1991-2000 for Alan McGee’s Creation label.

The five long-players – Bandwagonesque, Thirteen, Grand Prix, Songs From Northern Britain and Howdy! – will be back on vinyl on August 10, having been re-mastered by the band at Abbey Road.

Each edition will also come with a 7″ single containing rare material from the period.

The first night in each set of three shows will showcase tracks from 1991 – 1993, the second evening will feature songs originally released between 1994 – 1997, and the final show cover 1998 – 2000.

Tickets will go on sale from 9am on Friday (April 27) via www.teenagefanclub.com.
