Veterans Deacon Blue and up-and-coming singer-songwriter Carly Connor were among the winners at Saturday’s 14th Tartan Clefs – the Scottish music awards held annually as a fundraiser for Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy.

The event, at Glasgow’s Old Fruitmarket, also saw Nicola Benedetti honoured for her work with music therapy in schools.

The View, who won the Hard Rock Café Album of the Year Award, played a live set, as did Most Stylish Emerging Artist Award winner Carly Connor.

Deacon Blue received the Ticketmaster Landmark Achievement Award in recognition of their 25th anniversary, whilst song-writer Bill Martin won the Sunday Mail Living Legend Award, for his lyrics on songs co-written with Phil Coulter, such as Eurovision entries ‘Puppet on a String’ and ‘Congratulations’, Slik’s number one ‘Forever and Ever’, the Bay City Rollers’ ‘Shang-a-Lang’, and (ahem) the rather less tartan-clad ‘Back Home’ for the England 1970 World Cup squad.

The King Tut’s Songwriting Award went to Love and Money, the Sir Reo Stakis Pride of Scotland Award winner global star was Barbara Dickson, and the Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy in Scotland Inspiration Award winner was Red Sky July, the trio fronted by Texas guitarist Ally McErlaine.
