Ingliston is to play host to the only Scottish show in a series of live drive-in music shows to be staged across the UK in August.

The Royal Highland Showground, by Edinburgh Airport, is one of a dozen venues across the UK which will be open to the occupants of around 300 socially-distanced vehicles per night.

Acts playing at the various Live From The Drive-In gigs include Ash, Beverley Knight, Brainiac Live (not the band!), Brand New Heavies, Embrace, Gary Numan, Jack Savoretti, Lightning Seeds, Nathan Dawe, Russell Watson, The Snuts and The Streets.

The brainchild of Live Nation – part owners of DF Concerts – the series of shows will roughly resemble a scaled-down version of the Summer Sessions, now cancelled, but originally set to take place in the capital’s Princes Street Gardens in August.

Taking in similar arenas and outdoor spaces in Birmingham, Liverpool, London and Bristol, gig-goers will be allocated a parking space with sitting/standing room outside their vehicle where they can pitch their own folding chairs.

Live Nation said that they would be “adhering to the Government’s current social distancing rules to protect fans, artists, crews and staff at all times”.

Tickets go on pre-sale from Monday 22nd June at noon, at www.livenation.co.uk/utilitalivefromthedrivein.

Dalkeith Country Park will also host the opening leg of the touring Parking Lot Social in August which as well as live music will feature film screenings, comedy, ‘car-a-oke’, bingo and quizzes.

The 250 vehicle touring arena will also pitch up at as-yet-unnamed locations in Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dundee, Inverness and Perth.

The Midlothian venue should have been home to retro festival Let’s Rock Scotland last weekend but the one-day event , which was to have featured Adam Ant, ABC, OMD and Toyah, has been rescheduled for June 19th next year.
