Edinburgh has announced Simple Minds as the headliners for the musical element of their Hogmanay celebrations.
The synthpop veterans, celebrating 35th years since forming as Johnny and the Self-Abusers, will take the stage in Princes Street Gardens. Alongside them on the bill are renowned Dundonian hellraisers The View and South Queensferry’s jit-inspired Bwani Junction.
Meanwhile, the Street Party has the Maccabees, Reverend & the Makers and OK Social Club, as well as a Scottish Stage with Admiral Fallow, Lau and Shooglenifty.
There’s also The Rew1nd3r, a big spinning wheel thing that plays requests from past decades. Not unlike the big wheel that has played requests from past decades in the Electric Circus – just round the corner – for the past couple of years. Spooky coincidence.
