Simple Minds are the latest Scottish act to have one of their concerts called off following the death of the Queen.

The stadium-filling act have seen their slot the Radio 2 ‘Live in Leeds’ event scheduled to take place on the weekend of Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th September cancelled. Robbie Williams, Nile Rodgers & Chic, Tears for Fears, Kaiser Chiefs and George Ezra were also scheduled to appear.

This is despite advice from Buckingham Palace stating that organisers are under no obligation to cancel events or sporting fixtures or close entertainment venues during the mourning period, apart from on the day of the funeral – Monday 19th.

Previously, Horse was the first act to fall foul of a similar decision, when Paisley’s The Spree festival cancelled all shows – including one featuring Horse, on Thursday 8th, postponed shortly after the monarch’s death was announced and just minutes before the band were due to take he stage. The blanket decision has also seen shows featuring Altered Images and The Slow Readers Club called off.
