Edinburgh-based events guide The List has announced that it is to become a free publication, appearing every two months.

The magazine, which has operated as a fortnightly printed ‘What’s On’ guide for Edinburgh since 1985, has undergone many changes throughout the years, moving to cover more of Scotland’s central belt by the late 1990s, and then more recently going monthly but expanding its web presence to offer listings for the whole of the UK.

Listings and reviews publication will also become bi-monthly but with a print run increased from 18,000 to 25,000, with the lack of a cover price seeing its costs being sustained by an increase in advertising. However, it will have to compete with existing freesheet The Skinny.

The Lists’s other print titles including the Eating and Drinking Guide, Edinburgh Festival Guide and Guide to Scotland’s Festivals will remain unchanged.

The mag also has a new editor, Yasmin Sulaiman, until recently The List’s Acting Editor & Books Editor and having previously worked at Fest, the Edinburgh festival free newspaper.
