Nathan Evans could have Brian May playing guest guitar on a future release following a Tik Tok ‘jam session’.

The Tik Tok star, whose debut single ‘Wellerman’ topped the UK charts in January, was stunned when the Queen legend Brian May covered Evans’ version of the New Zealand whaling ballad.

May told the former postman from Airdrie – who has recently signed a three-album deal with Polydor: “Every now and then someone comes along who is great. There’s this guy called Nathan Evans who does these fantastic sea shanty things. I got myself a little basic simple drum box, so with your permission…”

Evans replied: “Permission? You do not need permission. You’re Brian May!” before singing along to the Queen guitarist’s take on his song.

May later responded on Instagram: “This great guy probably doesn’t realise (yet) how chuffed I am that he’s so chuffed.

“Hope I get the chance to play on his album. Hmmm … I wonder if ‘39′ would suit him?,” he added, referring to the track he penned for 1976 Queen album ‘A Day At The Races’.

“Well it IS a kind of sea-faring song,” May continued, “written while sailing on the Milky Way, about 118 years in the future, I guess. What d’ye think ? “Don’t you hear my call ….? Bri”

Evans later posted: “I am honestly so speechless and shocked and excited and every other emotion you can think off. BRIAN MAY. Thank you. #fyp ”
