The Scottish Music Industry Association – a new industry body whose membership will draw from (deep breath) “performers, composers, record labels, venues, producers, agents, managers, engineers, promoters, publicists, broadcasters, bloggers, DJs, distributors, rehearsal rooms, publishers, pluggers, developers, consultants and policy makers engaged in the business of music”, is open to membership requests. You can apply at the website – www.smia.org.uk. Membership is free for now but will cost £20 per year after September 1st. So couldn’t do any harm… could it?

(Any similarity to previously existing Scottish music industry associations is purely coincidental).
