The shortlist for the Scottish Album of the Year (SAY) has been announced. The judging panel have knocked down the 20 finalists to a top 10 with assistance from members of the general public, who voted Twin Atlantic’s Free into the list. They join a diverse list ranging from the truly indie Happy Particles to the Mercury-nominated Creosote and Hopkins, and from the jazz of Tommy Smith to Mogwai‘s sonic rock.

The merits of each release will now be deliberated by the panel, who will decide the final destination of the £20,000 prize, to be announced on June 19th. Each of the 9 runners-up will be awarded £1,000 each.
