The Scottish Music Industry Association (SMIA) has announced the ‘longlist for the inaugural Scottish Album of the Year Award.
The list below, in alphabetical order, contains the the twenty highest scoring titles as voted for by 100 industry figures.

· King Creosote & Jon Hopkins “Diamond Mine”
· Mogwai “Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will”
· Mungo’s Hi Fi “Forward Ever”
· Muscles Of Joy “Muscles Of Joy”
· Remember Remember “The Quickening”
· Richard Craig “Inward”

Starting next week, a track from each nominated album will be made available for streaming and every weekday, an Album of the Day will be available in full. This all leads to the whittling down to a shortlist of 10 albums and eventual award ceremony on June 19th. The press release also makes the interesting point that the likes of the download-only Happy Particles and vinyl release of Muscles of Joy will now get short CD pressing runs in the promotional process for the longlist.
