The Scottish Alternative Music Awards (SAMA) have opened public voting for their 2020 poll.

It’s the 11th anniversary of the awards, whose aim is to put the spotlight on the best new acts across a range of genres.

Fair Mothers, Man of the Minch, Tommy Perman, Callum Easter, Free Love, Kapil Seshasayee, Saor, Tamzene, Dead Pony, Fauves and Pleasure Heads are just a few of the names up for prizes across seven categories.

Voting is open for three days from noon on Monday November 9th, where music fans can select their favourites from a shortlist put together by nominators working across the music industry.

Nova – already winner of the SAY award – and Walt Disco are to play the virtual awards ceremony at 6.30pm on Wednesday 18 November via Twitch, hosted by broadcasting legend Jim Gellatly alongside spoken word artist and Savage Cut collaborator Leyla Josephine.

Tickets for the virtual ceremony are available via Eventbrite and include an option to donate to leading music charity Help Musicians Scotland, with funds to be invested back into supporting Scottish musicians.
