The Scottish Alternative Music Awards ceremony took place last Thursday night in Glasgow and the winners, from a total of more than 18,000 votes cast, read as follows:

Best Rock/Alternative : Fatherson
Best Electronic: Fridge Magnets
Best Newcomer : Bwani Junction
Best Metal : Ten Tonne Dozer
Best Hip Hop : Madhat McGore
Best Acoustic : Brown Bear & The Bandits
