Russell MacEwan – Black Sun and Macrocosmica fame – has published a book of his life drawings.

The oil, pen and charcoal, photorealistic images in ‘Black Sun – Art of Russell MacEwan’ cover a range of musical subjects such as Joy Division, Coil and Motorhead as well as Clint Eastwood and World War 1.

The 64-page book ties in with the opening of a new gallery (www.drawing-life.com) in a creative hub in Partick’s Rosevale Street, which launches with an exhibition from 29th – 31st March.

MacEwan was a member of acclaimed Glasgow combo Macrocosmica, along with former Teenage Fanclub drummer Brendan O’Hare, bassist Cerwys Ower, and one-time Telstar Ponies guitarist Gavin Laird. He has since performed in industrial combo Black Sun, when not working as Professor Emeritus at the City of Glasgow College.

A second volume – “a slight development from the first” – is planned, but the first edition can currently be ordered via the contact details on the Youtube video below.
