Edinburgh’s Roxy Art House is to close, with the loss of 19 jobs. The venue, which has recently become a popular setting for many local bands and labels as well as events such as Hidden Door, Oxjam, Tigerfest and the Slow Cub, has been forced to close following its parent charity, Edinburgh University Settlement (EUS), going into administration with debts of £300,000. The charity also runs Bristo Place Church, Wilkie House, and and the Forest Cafe and Arts Centre which was recently put up for sale.
Although it was known that there was a temporary element to the venue’s existence, the sudden winding-up of business was unexpected. No news on relocation of forthcoming events is available at present.
