There is disappointment for some pop fans as AEG cancelled the RockNess festival.
Citing a plethora of other events such as the World Cup in Brazil, Bannockburn Live (on 28-29th June) and the Commonwealth Games in July/August, the three-day festival is, it’s said, just taking a year off.
However, last year’s event, with Ellie Goulding as one headliner, was not a sellout with some estimates suggesting that 2013 was 10,000 short of its potential capacity.

A RockNess spokesperson said via Facebook: “We’d like to thank you for your support over the last eight years. Due to the addition of a number of events alongside the World Cup and the Commonwealth Games we’ve decided to take a year off. We’re using this break to make the event bigger and better than ever in 2015 so have an amazing summer and see you back at the Loch next year!”

It now seems likely that other festivals may see a ‘bounce’ in their own attendances, and with T in the Park, Belladrum and Wickerman regular sell-outs festival-goers attention could turn to the likes of Loopallu and Down The Rabbit Hole.
